David W. Frederickson- Visiting Professor of Communication

Former Presidential Appointee & Management Consultant


Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry, with a minor in media communications, from the University of the Pacific. Currently, a Visiting Professor at Pacific, he is a former senior Federal official and white house appointee who has served five presidents over the course of three decades. He has served also as Deputy Assistant Secretary & Staff Director, Management and Administration, at the United States Department of Energy where he shared senior management duties for well over 16,000 Federal employees, 135,000 contract employees and a $22 billion dollar budget.

In addition to his position there, he has served as the Director of Communications for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, where he was also a senior executive sharing leadership for thousands of employees and a budget of nearly $20 billion dollars.

Professor Frederickson takes pride in his history of accomplishment also working alongside America’s small businesses; serving as the Associate Administrator for Field Operations of the U.S. Small Business Administration, where he oversaw the daily management of some 100 offices and more than 1100 employees, in the field.

In the private sector, he enjoyed a successful career as a media, marketing and advertising executive/consultant, for a wide variety of clients in retail, industry and politics.

Dave Daucanski- Vice President of Sales

Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and French from Illinois State University. He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Dave has held several executive positions as a Vice President for the BellSouth Corporation, the Lamar Advertising Company and most currently at Clear Channel Holdings Inc. He has managed hundreds of millions of dollars in sales and has managed hundreds of employees over his career.

Dave is also an equity member of startup Blueweb Mobile Media, and is responsible for building the business plan, brand, sales structure, web presence, SEO, SEM, mobile ad launches and revenue generation for the company. Dave has also held a managerial role at AOL Inc and is an expert in digital media.


Suzanne Wachli, PhD MBA- Associate Professor of Marketing

Former Corporate Executive


Suzanne Walchli is Associate Professor of Marketing at the Eberhardt School of Business, University of the Pacific, where she has served on the faculty since the fall of 2000. Her expertise includes marketing strategy, consumer psychology, product innovation, and information privacy.

Before joining Pacific, Dr. Walchli was on the faculty of Babson College where she played a key role in the design and implementation of an innovative integrated management curriculum. She taught at both the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and Dominican University (IL) while pursuing her doctorate. Prior to entering an academic career, Dr. Walchli held senior positions in strategic planning, marketing management, and new product development at Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation, Frito-Lay, and Citicorp Diners Club.

Dr. Walchli holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University.


Claudia Mercado, MBA- Software Consultant

Business Development


Claudia holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Legal Economic Analysis and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business at Mills College. Claudia is an entrepreneur in spirit and has spent the past 5 years working for technology startups. She has worked at and NCC Group in business development. In addition she is a strong advocate for the advancement of the Hispanic community and currently serves as President of the San Jose Chapter for the National Society of Hispanic MBA.

In 2012, Claudia completed the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality Leadership Institute (HLI). The Institute provided Claudia with vital leadership and advocacy skills, enabling her to create fundamental change within her local neighborhood and across California. The Senate Rules Committee of California also appointed her as a public member to the Osteopathic Medical Board of California for a four-year term.
